Belfast Open, 2008

There was a disappointing turnout for this year’s Belfast Tournament. Only 14 players took part in the end. This year the top two players couldn’t be seperated. Daniel Paraschiv and Yohei Negi emerged as joint winners, with a conservative Claas Roever retaining his third place. Full results and photographs are available.

Top 8 Result – 25 Sept

Claas ended his Top 8 with a win against Bernard tonight on KGS. In a difficult situation in the opening, Claas (white) ripped off his opponent and emerged with a powerful position. Bernard was unable to retrieve the game and resigned on move 132. This result has been reflected in the Championship Table.

After a long hiatus in play, Noel and Bernard played on KGS tonight. Noel (Black) took the advantage in the opening and did not let the pressure ease off. Bernard resigned on move 141. This result has been reflected in the championship table.
