Irish Correspondence Championship 2025

The correspondence championship will be starting once again, but much later this year (apologies) on Monday September 29th, and entries are open.

Games will be played on OGS, as part of the Ireland group. Similar to previous years, this tournament is open to anyone who is Irish, has ever lived in Ireland, is married or otherwise related to someone Irish, or has any connection to Irish go, however tenuous.

This year, because it’s much later in the year, I’ve decided to change things up a bit.

Rather than getting everyone to sign up with a google sheet, and then manually creating the brackets, I’d like to try creating some open (as long as you’re part of the Ireland group linked above) signups for the tournaments.

For the moment, and subject to change with the number of signups, the divisions are as follows:

Time controls will be Fischer time of two weeks basic plus one day per move. The aim is for divisions of 6–8 players around your own strength, but it may be slightly more or less depending on the number of signups. It might be possible to create additional or fewer divisions as required.

The intention is as always to have some fun and competitive games, so feel free to signup no matter your level! Reach out to shinuito on the Ireland group, the tournament page, discord etc if you have any issues joining or anything related.

Hoping to see you there!
