Would you like to start a go club in Ireland? We’ll help you!

The IGA is always looking to grow the game in Ireland. Currently there are 5 active clubs, those being Dublin, Belfast, Cork, Galway and Lisburn, and we’re looking to help start more. As voted on at the 2026 AGM, we have instituted a club policy, namely:

“The IGA Committee shall implement an IGA Club Policy, wherein once any 4 current IGA members who have a playing venue apply to the IGA they may receive support in the form of IGA sets on indefinite loan until such time as the club no longer operates. In addition they would receive promotion on the website and social media to help attract new members.”

Basically, if you and a few friends are looking to play go in person, we can lend you sets indefinitely, and help get you up and running promoting your new club. We’d put up details on the website, add a channel for your club on our Discord, and post you on our Instagram, among other promotion. A suitable venue could be in a community centre, a chess club, a pub, a university, a school or another public place.
