The 31st World Amateur Go Championship will be taking place in China this year. Ireland will be represented by the venerable John Gibson. You can follow the action via the ranka online magazine.

Brian Gallagher finished on 3/8 points, securing 52 place for Ireland. He scored wins over Cyprus, Phillipines and Chile.
China’s Yuqing Hu won the event for the second time. See ranka online for excellent coverage.
Today the World Amateur Go Championship has started. This year there are two places to follow the action and the fortunes of our representative, Brian Gallagher. As well as the official website, there is also the excellent ranka website, with interviews, reports and reviews.
Also Steve Flinter has withdrawn from this year’s Top 8.
Ireland failed to win the World Amateur Championship again this year.
Ian managed only 52nd place with 3 wins from 8, beating Peru, Bulgaria and Azerbaijan. Hopefully some games will be added shortly.

This year, Noel Mitchell was our representative at the World Amateur Go Championship in Tokyo.
The championship was won by Chinese player Ziteng SHAN .
Noel won 3 games out of 8 and finishes in 44th place out of 68 players.
