Recent events have called for clarification of the rules regarding multiple challenges and when challenges may legitimately be declined – hopefully this spells things out in more black and white terms.

Rule 12 now reads:

“A player who has received a challenge is not required to accept further challenges until the match has been played and may decline them while that challenge is pending. Both the challenging player and the Committee must be informed that the challenge has been declined under this provision. A player may issue multiple challenges subject to the restrictions described in rules 4 and 7.”
