The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Irish Go Association will this year take place during the Confucius Cup. There are some executive positions open for election. We invite all IGA members and other observers to come along and be a part of shaping the future of Irish Go.
Time: 4.30pm – 30 minutes before the 3rd round begins
Date: Saturday 3rd March 2018
Place: Ballroom of the Gresham Hotel
Deadline for proposing motions is Monday 19th February. Send to email@example.com
The following positions are open for election (incumbent in brackets)
- President (Currently no incumbent)
- Secretary (Carol Doyle, who is standing down)
- Ordinary Committee Member
The following motions are known:
- Motion 1, proposed by Carol Doyle: Dissolve the position of IGA Secretary.
The Irish Go scene is tight knit but spread far. As a result it has proven difficult to fill all executive committee positions within the IGA. There are other Go Associations with two executive members: President and Treasurer. The President takes on the duties of the Secretary, including organising the AGM. Organisation of tournaments is managed by executive committee members or local players, depending on the tournament.
- Motion 2, Korea Points, proposed by James Hutchinson
Full text of this motion is visible here
- Motion 3, Irish Championship, proposed by Ian Davis
The IGA committee should resolve to re-examine the Championship structure, consult the membership, and come back with an improved system.
