10 May – Ireland lose to Slovakia

Ireland lost another game in the Pandanet Team Championship tonight by 1-3. However, the pride of Cork, Rory Wales, managed to put a shine on an otherwise dark night as he crushed another dan player. This board point should see us hold on to 8th place, 1 above our seeding.

Yes, the headline is accurate. Ireland have won. After taking an early lead on the weekend, through James Tea Hutchinson’s win on board 2, Ireland finished off the job tonight. Beating Italy on boards 1 and 4 whilst affording a consolation point on board 3. Full details at the official site.

Round 5 of the Pandanet European Go Cup saw as drawn against one of the tougher sides, Turkey. However Ireland acquitted themselves well, going down by the respectable margin of 1-3.
