More relaxing than a full-on tournament, less chaotic than a Wednesday night in Toner’s — the Smithfield Special is a day of self-paired, rated games in the comfortable offices of Workday in Smithfield, Dublin 7. Play as many (or as few) games as you like: tune up for your next tournament, practice your innovative new fuseki, or just come for the joy of battle (and pizza).

10.30am–4pm, Sunday, 20th October

Time controls: 25 minutes + 3 x 30 seconds byo-yomi (EGF Class C)
Handicap: difference in rank minus two

We’ll make the first pairings at 11.00. After that, it’s self-paired — play whoever is available, or put your name up on the list and wait for a challenge. 

Entry is gratis, but you must be a member of the Irish Go Association — the Secretary will be happy to sign up new members on the day. Tea, coffee and pizza will be provided.

You must let Byoung-Ju know that you will attend. We’ll be playing in his workplace and he will need to register you in advance so don’t leave it too late.
