Ireland finally returned to winning ways tonight, eventually taking Cyprus down after a tense struggle. After Gavin got a bit carried away on board 1, we found ourselves on the wrong side of 1-0. Gradually though, helped by a series of rip-offs, we ploughed our way, Gibson-like, to a 3-1 victory.

Finally, just as it seemed Ireland would plummet down to the dark, depraved depths of division C, we won a match. The hero of the day was Eoghan ‘Wonder’ Barry, who beat his opponent without a single move. Ireland 3 – Croatia 1

Ireland’s campaign to top League C was thrown into disarray tonight. The higher rated Slovakia trounced us by 4-0, with a default point on top. Lets wish for better luck against Slovenia in the next round.
23 Oct – Ireland Triumph
Ireland once again showed who was boss in the European Team Go League tonight. The team staged a magnificent tactical draw over their opponents, Spain. The fine wins on the top boards where balanced by calculated losses on the bottom boards. Ireland’s campaign to promotion continues on its way, in healthy shape.
