Clubs

The longest-standing Go club in the country, Collegians Go Club meets in Toners Pub on 139 Baggot Street Lower. The club meets on Wednesday evenings from about 8:30 onwards. Newcomers are welcome on any evening – there will always be someone who is happy to teach the rules of the game – and there is a good mix of kyu level players with one or two low dans and occasional stronger visitors.  There is no charge for attending the club but you are expected to buy a drink or two by way of supporting our hosts.

It is possible to play in Stillorgan at PingZone – Sunday 14:00-18:00 at PingZone, St Benildus College.

The experiment of meeting in the Tea Garden on Monday nights was adjudged not be a great success, but there is still a go set there, should you fancy a game in the Ormond Quay area.

Previously there was a UCD Go club (founded in 6 November 2010 under the auspices of Irish Go Association and Dr Wang Liming, Director of UCD Confucius Institute). Sadly as of 2013 UCD Go Club is became dormant.

Tournaments

In addition to the Irish Go Congress, there are occasional micro-tournaments, rapid-format events held over a single evening. The Becks Tournament was held over a series of evenings in 2006. Dublin also had the honour of hosting the 45th European Go Congress in 2001, which was attended by nearly 300 players, making it by far the largest tournament held on Irish soil.
